Journey of Food by Brenda Huynh
"My zine, Journey of Food explores how food has come to impact refugee life-making practices.
My mom is Chinese (Teochew) and Cambodian. The two recipes shown in this zine are my mom’s favorites. The two recipes have evolved along the way according to immigration patterns.
By highlighting two recipes from Southeast Asia, I hope to further understand how the impact of war has come to influence important recipes that are still eaten today. I will be looking into Chinese, Vietnamese, and Cambodian recipes. I wanted to highlight how specific ingredients and its availability could influence the Asian American diaspora, specifically how it could alter recipes when it is made in the US."
